picked this up today and decided to strip it and run it as a single speed bike.
the frame isnt the prettiest ive seen but its nice and light and the forks still have some bounce to them.
i just need a tensioner to take the slack out of the chain, and i have the brakes on another bike ready.
quite happy so far.

Went out for a ride today, and straight away I noticed the fork elastomers are shot. When riding the fork stays nearly all the way down.
So I will be looking for new elastomers.

Re:

I can't pretend to be happy about a marin getting deprived of it's gears, but i will let you off.

That's the drawback with some sus forks, darned elastomers, and getting the balance right. See if you can rob a spring from something else and build a stack that incorporates a spring. This way you can play around with the order of such absorbers and get it right for you.

And, the stack can only be shrunk physically to a limit, of the springs' compress-ability.
