Marin Palisides Trail - new elastomers or change the forks?

Only place I can find new elastomers is in the US and so with shipping the price won't be whole lot less than a new set of forks!

EG: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RockShox-Dart ... 503wt_1061

I know it's not keeping the bike original, which could be a sin to some, but in terms of performance for my money does it make sense to do a complete fork change?
I have to ask because I've not ridden anything more up to date than this '97 bike!

For me, it would depend on the fork. A nice Manitou or something would, in my eyes, be worth renovating and bringing back to life. A low end mid-late 90's rst fork , however, would just be swapped out.

There is a thread on here somewhere that is to organise a bulk purchase of elastomers to bring shipping costs down. However, my work internet browser doesnt support the search facility on here (its IE6, well out of date but I cant update it or I would have linked you to it!) so have a little search for that, might make it more feasible to get new ealstomers that way.

good luck!

Thanks guys
I've pm'd Ringo whose organising the purchase and if it's sensible I'll go for the new elastomers. Even though they are a low-end RST 381 I will still find a significant improvement and for a lot less money than a total fork replacement.
