Marin Muirwoods....

What ages is it? If in very good nick it would be a good buy but about on the money imo for a tatty one. I take it that it's just frame, bb and mech?

All early versions were steel, not sure about more modern ones though.

I think that all the early 90's cro-mo Muirwoods were built with Tange tubes and had the same frame as those higher up in the Marin range.
As such they are reasonably lightweight for an entry level bike and also tidily welded with nice drop-outs etc.

Mine is a 1994, modestly upgraded from the original low end Alivio groupset to the resolutely mid-range delights of STX. I'm quietly impressed with how it rides.

I did get the complete bike for a lot less than £25 too, but I still reckon £25 for what you've seen is a pretty good price if it's all in good condition.
I'd hope that the forks and stem were included too though.

sounds good providing the condition is ok.....try a £25 gamble!.....its a pint and a curry at the end of the day!.....

...More or less the same quality tubing was used in the muirwoods as higher up the range, I believe. I think the main difference in the frames was the muirwoods was mostly plain gauge tubing as opposed to double butted. This just means that the higher models had a bit lighter frames. All still good quality though.

I have no idea what the weight comparison would be between a plain gauge cro-mo steel frame and a double putted one. Perhaps ask one of the Marin officionados on here if you want to know more. Maybe Wd Pro ?

I take it it's just a frame, if so it's reasonable, I just paid £15 for a frame and forks of here.

Bear in mind that the front mech will just be shimano m200 so nothing that special.

There's an original advert on here if you use the search facility.

A frame and forks just sold for £26.66 posted and it was nearly mine I new another pound would get it as it went to his last pence amount rather than up by a full pound but my head one and I didn't bid.
