Marin Hawk Hill BB 1990's

Hi All,

new to forum,

Doing some maintenance on my trusty old Hawk Hill, circa 1990s Blue and Silver
I am replacing BB which was BB-7700 original,
have ordereed BB-UN55 68mm x113mm new replacement


all specs right but feels tight on screwing in? can I assume the thread on the frame is British Standard on this bike, don't want to strip it

Yes, you have the correct thread patern BB, but perhaps it is a bit of corrosion or something in the thread zone. Check you have put in the right position (left side in left side etc)

Got cleaned and all went back nicely, bike and gears working nicely! news cassette and chain about a year ago, but still had problems with gears jumping.


Replacing crankset and worn bearings sorted,


just got a bit panicky, I think shops assume BS unless stated otherwise.
