I have just received my first set of these they are a bit tatty and need a bleed I think but for now, I wanted to know if when you are using the EVO 2 mounts do you have to use a brake booster? I have the mounting plate but not booster.

Cheers Brian.

The EVO mounts have two boosters Front & Rear, the clamps also are centralised where as the conventional mounts have a biased to one side and just one booster, if you follow? Hopefully the pics will explain, also go to the Magura website you can still download the user manual for HS33 brakes, basically the same for all the HS range. But to set up the EVO 2 brakes correctly as the force is powerful some booster is needed at the front.

Mine is missing the smaller front booster, it seems it fit together OK but I wanted to check I could run the brakes with out it.

Cheers Brian.

personally, i would run a booster. i have HS33's on my Zaskar, and even with the booster I can see the brakes bend the stays when applied...its as much a brace as a booster.

People running Maguras have been known to kill rims due to the excessive braking force, and the flex on the frame is also evident, however correctly set up with boosters front and rear they will serve you well and provide great stopping power :) Been running some Raceline D's on my Cindercone for a while, I love em :)

I may have a spare front black EVO2 Booster? Will check tonight :D

...failing that, the £9.99 kit from Tarty Bikes is for both front and rear so you need only the one 8)

BTW: the rear brace is to stop the fork flexing so much, the front brace is to stop the brakes themselves splaying outwards under pressure when you apply them.

Thanks for all you help.

Jussa let me know if you find one kicking about cheers.

Thanks all Brian.
