how does he ride backwards when it's not a fixed wheel? Or is he pedalling while momentum takes him backwards?

yup...he is letting the momentum move him (downhill gradient) and pedalling backwards while manualling

I also read somewhere that he has to take ibuprofen cos his wrists are knacked from all the impacts :shock:
