Any number on the seat clamp area? Looks 30s possibly. Will it only take 26" wheels?
I will have a look for number on Seat Post, you think as old as that?
I have a 1939 Claud Butler and it does have a very similar look and geometary.

Re:

I have not long sold a 1937 MacLean and looks the same. Brampton Lugs. Serial number was N40 on the right side of the seat lug.

My Brother has a MacLeans (he lives near to where the shop was), I 'll be surprised if it's pre-war although to be fair the features could be just pre-war of even post-war as late as the early 1950s - my early post war Hetchins has a headclip, and mudguard eyes on the stays.

Rk.

It'll be very early 40s if it's 40s. My guess is late 30s by the fact that it has a head clip, early style mudguard fittings and Russ bend fork. The chromework tells you it's not from during the war, because there was a chromium shortage.

Thanks, good point about the Chromium plate.

In danger of repeating myself here: It's all guess work, headclips and those mudguards fittings were used well into the post war period (my '47 Hetchins has them), and the chrome clearly is not original (chrome comment is not redundant).

Poor photo of the frame number is no help.

Murray MacLean verified this is 1937 via the VCC
