Oh brilliant cheers Ill see if there is one local. Did you have any trouble finding a top cap to fit the bolt head? They’re surprisingly cheap. I got ten M10 x 100mm from Toolstation for less than £3.
I assumed they were conventional bolts. Description is M6 Hex Bolts - that's conventionalSorry, they were conventional bolts, I had a moment![]()
My apologies for the confusion - did not realise I was using incorrect nomenclatureI assumed they were conventional bolts. Description is M6 Hex Bolts - that's conventional
Brilliant thank you for your help and explanation. I shall try my best to remember in the future! Most of my friends from school went into engineering backgrounds but alas I went elsewhere... Seems I am now paying the price for itWhat you're after is generally known as a cap head (or socket head) bolt (or screw).
Like punctuation pedants, some engineers will fight to the death over which they believe is which, but it really doesn't really matter.
Hex head has a hexagonal head to fit a spanner, cap head uses an Allen key
I have one from an extender M6 x 110mm (Length from underneath the head), and various other lengths, if you need something shorter.
Or you can get a pack of 5 cheap from eBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/277195185021
It's not structural/safety critical, just for fitting, so find something the right length, or longer.
The cap on the top of the extender (into which the head of the cap head bolt sits) is usually just a normal headset cap.
All the best,
