as I reside in cheap & cheerful land I found these to be good if a low stack height is required.

23.4mm

This guy has some very handy things. Just bought a 25,4 - 31,8 handlebar problem solver. If it's any good it saves me either a new handle bar or new stem!

Thanks LGF for guidance in a land i didn't knew!

FSA Orbit XLII is pretty low for a conventional headset, can't remember the exact figures

I was after a low stack aheadset a while back. Lowest I could find was the crank bros (cobalt from memory and link) at 21mm. FWIW I ended up getting some new forks and keeping my existing king headset.

Yeah, I've got to the same point. The problem is that I need 220mm+ on the steerer and for the kind of forks I'm after it's looking like my only option is buying some NOS/new forks. If I could even get away with 210mm there are second hand options out there.
