Does anybody know if KG166 is, practically, the same frame with KG96 "team replica"?

KG96 in the 1990 catalogue:

Any issues with these frames? Is a price of 400 euros normal for a NOS KG166? Does it worth it?
Thanks!

Re:

Hi KGT, IMHO, they are the same frame. l am guessing that Look paid a considerable sum to TVT to the design rights so they certainly tried to get the most from them. The differences between the 176, 166,156 frames seem to be the composition of the tubes, 166 looks like a direct match to the original 96.

As for price that sounds a bit strong but they are rare....

The only discernible difference visually is the slight change in design for the rear dropouts - variations on the same theme. Possibly a difference in the carbon weave as well?

The only issue with the KG96 is the lacquer bubbles up to cause what looks like water impregnation, it truth it just separation between carbon weave and lacquer. I have the joyous task of de-lacquering one of these due to this issue, so I'm guessing a NOS frame will not suffer from this ailment - worth checking though.

E400 seems a bit on the high side, but you're paying for that NOS moniker. Regardless, they are lovely machines to ride.
