Any recommendations? After changing from STIs I need to get some V-brake levers on my weight weenie build: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=249295

I've looked at the KCNC/AEST kind but this is my main ride and I don't really want to sacrifice reliability/performance and they just look a bit too flimsy. My current thinking is the Avid FR5's which are very cheap, work great and weigh in very reasonably at 155g (had a set in the past) but they're not especially exciting. Is there anything a bit more interesting 'in between' that I should be looking at?

i bought a pair of AEST V' nearly as light as my KCNC but a lot cheaper from e-bay. come in many colours.

KCNC and Aest are very light but only because they look and feel like they belong on a toy bike...and the flex is ridiculous!
Money no object and who cares about the weight...Avid Black Ops everyday of the week.

Yes I thought the AEST/KCNC would probably be a step too far in the weight/performance balance. Those Extralite ones look amazing, sturdier that AEST/KCNC and have the return spring too. Hadn't seen those before but at £150 I think they might be a step too far in the (equally important) weight/price balance!

I still haven't really come across any compromise options in the middle ground between the superlight levers (60g) and lighter end of the 'stock' levers (150-160g). Maybe there's no market there.

There is a new version of the AEST levers, they look a little better to me. Anyone try them yet?

Hmmm, they look like clones of the Extralite ones mentioned earlier (which I guess is a good thing). I prefer the fact that the bar mounting bolts are separated from the pivot bolt now. At around fifth of the price they might be actually worth a go. The same seller has other colours available Can't seem to find a weight though?

There was another seller that listed the weight of the new ones as 70g but their price was higher.

I liked the seperate bar mount bolts too, and the lever blade looks stiffer.
