A simple trick to remove even the most recalcitrant BB cups.



Just use an enormously powerful impact gun. 450Nm , simple.

Aha, it is in fact a socket for a Nissan 350Z hub, so although its shiny, its still for impact drivers.
I don't have a 350Z by the way.

Thats one short step from our old trick of hammering knackered sockets over knackered locking wheelnut inners and impacting them!

I assume, in much the same vein, if it goes wrong you just weld the tool to the cup?

I have had a string of well stuck bottom brackets recently - and having watched a youtube video where someone was removing one with a hand held electric tool, I got curious and eventually figured out they were using an impact wrench.

60 quid at my local Aldi at the moment and I now have a wonder tool which removes even the worst bottom brackets in under 20 seconds. Truly a thing of beauty.
