Not sorted accommodation this year. Thought I might stay over in Siena and maybe just camp the night before the event in Gaiole.

Any idea if camping costs extra?

I've no idea !, can't find any info at all apart from I saw a video or photo that showed people camping in a sports field there, I can't find it now and "just turning up with a tent" doesn't seem like the best plan I've ever had

There is definitely a campsite on a sports field in the middle of Gaiole
where the ride starts, but I've no idea if you have to pay for it or what facilities you get - like you, I've not found anything about it on the Eroica site.

But you certainly can camp there.

The campsite on the sportsfield in Gaiole was very busy - you'll need to book in advance. There's also a campsite in Siena - sienacamping - plus some reasonable price chalets (mobile homes). Won't be going this year.

well I've spent hours trawling the interweb . . err I mean working and I can't find any info at all about the sports field, found a few you-tube s showing it, but that's about it !!
I guess if I rent a car at Pisa the worst case is I'll have to sleep in that !!

I expect the camping will be on a first-served basis, so suggest you don't rock-up on Saturday afternoon expecting to find a spot - it was well-rammed by Saturday morning
