I guess my first concern would be why the forks are missing. Start by looking for signs of a crash like ripples under the top and down tubes at the juncture with the head tube.

Just about any aftermarket fork with a one inch steerer will work

Re:

hi,does it have a race number hanger under the t tube ? does it have a metallic sticker on the seat tube
saying aciere special x prefixed by GL ?
my fork was put into my loft because the shop of that time did not advise me of a low stack option
after i had ordered 'srong light a9 delta headset' so i stuck a diff fork on it.
m house burnt down ,and that was the end of that.
if you want to keep it correct , a fork with no mudgard eyes and columbus aero curved crown.
the side of the crown goes a bit pointy.[view' spear' ? reader here on this forum, topic 'my lemond']

'steve goff cycles' could make a suitable one for £100 or 'rotrax' southampton
try 'steel vintage bikes/cycles' in germany have some chrome ones i believe.
best wishes,kevin
ps could be fun to do the'rock shocks option'

Something like this would look nice :D
