All I can say, is I wish you well with the application procedure to become a full time dosser, for that exercise is a disheartening disaster, all no doubt designed to make people think stuff this I would rather work at the place I last worked than go through all this
And then there is the time involved for it does not just happen once you filled in the forms and if you are really lucky you will get an arrogant sneering joke centre employee, called your advisor who will look down their nose at you and tell you what you ought to be doing. Sod what skills you have, you are a peg to be hammered into whatever shaped hole that maybe one or all of the following ;pays peanuts,is far away,is at unsociable hours or is difficult conditions, the result of which you will be back on the dole, but don't for god's sake quit the job, for then you will be high and dry.
Oh yeah and watch out for the courses they love to send you on, for they can be done, but the courses are so soul destroying they only being there because offering education to supposedly enhance job prospects is seen as an alternative way to go, but is in reality parasite companies claiming government funding to do something with the unemployed, whether that is education is open to interpretation.
Nope, you really don't want to go there, do agency work, start a business do anything, but the dole route, well, I am crawling out of it and never again will I subject myself to such humiliation as that. I have experienced it so can sympathise but my advice is to avoid it as if you are even the slightest bit low, you are guaranteed to be lower after you have gone through that mill.
But if you look into it, I believe the joke centre is offering grants to start small businesses and with that tax credits for a year, maybe enough to evade the sign on humiliation which is done now flanked by hefty security guards so hostile a place that has become, but I do suppose the actual interface between the unemployed and the faceless uncaring government.
