I bought this off this very forum last year, with grand plans to make it some kind of amazing winter beater with big tyres. Winter is nearly gone (apparently), and sadly this still hasn't got any further than the cupboard under the stairs. Now that I've bought and built up an On-One Pompetamine which basically does the job I bought the Raleigh for, it is surplus to requirements.
I think the problem was, I'm a roadie/track cyclist at heart, and the V-brakes and U-brakes and 26" wheels just scared me off.
Anyway, here's how it looks:
And here's one picture the seller sent me of how it could look built up:
Which looks brilliant.
What's included:
Frame and forks - 1988 Raleigh Mirage, 54cm (21", if you must) seattube, 58cm (23") top tube, Reynolds 501 tubing, with good BB
26" wheels for Shimano cassette
Cantilever brake for the front, U-brake for the rear
Seatpost and saddle
Stem
The handlebars pictured belong to my flatmate, so I shouldn't offer to sell them, but maybe if you throw in a few more quid I could include that and a basic single-speed chainset.
I paid £60 for all of this, including postage, but sadly I cannot offer postage, so I am just after £45 collected from N19 (North London) or somewhere I can access easily on a bike with all of this strapped to my back - ie, not too far away.
Any questions, please ask. Thanks for looking!
