I have a big probem with my laptop, ast night AVG started detecting multiple threats which it was heaing but they were coming up amost non stop. I ran a full virus scan and it healed about 1600 infections
Ran Malwarebytes but that didnt pick up any problems.

This morning I cant open Firefox it syas it has crashed everytime I try, Google Earth has a missing shortcut? Most times when I try and open anything new windows installer pops up saying it is trying to instal office 2003.

Tried to do a system restore but there are no January restore points and it wont allow me to go back to the previous month?

Any hep much appreciated, looks like I need a new laptop though :(

i had this a few years ago...you are gunna have to do a complete reinstall...mine was caused by using a back up of office 2003 ...never used it again...office student blue is the best way after formatting...good luck.....

ps try sfe mode first and remove anything that looks fishy first tho..

Get your documents into a quarantine folder on an external disk and format the machine and start from scratch.

Use XP sp3 or Windows 7, don't bother with Vista.

Turn off Windows search when you get it up and running, get it back up to date with updates use Microsoft security essentials for free anti-virus and install Open office for your office suite.

If you need to put Acrobat reader on there make sure you avoid installing any of the McAfee rubbish they try and dupe you into having.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Sorry I can't help, No idea how to on this one, Never used AVG so I can't recommend anything.
