A fantastic build. Am currently stripping a GT alu frame at the moment. Did you follow the Nitromors instructions? I only ask because I am not getting anywhere fast!

Yes i followed them but found that applying a first coat to a small area to remove the lacquer and outer coat, then a second application to remove whats left and undercoat.

To get the frame to the condition its in now was extremely difficult and time consuming. (but worth it) In all it must of took about 40 hours of stripping, wire wool of different grades and lots of polishing.

When you think you have finished wash the bike and it will reveal all the places you have missed.

Thanks for the complements, i will be almost finished today. More pics's up later.

I hae been stripping again today..Put another load of Mitromors on the frame and tried to resist the tempation to go at it with the wire wool for the 40 minutes that they recommend. Have made progress with a second application, but still have a lot of scraping, rubbing and sweating to do!

Like you say, it's going to be worth it. For me, I waiting for pay day go get some more bits anyway, lets face it I am not going to get very far without any wheels or a bottom bracket!

I am nearly there now. Just brakes to sort and a few cables to cut.
It was like Christmas unwrapping all the parts i have bought.

My mission was to keep under original weight and spend less than £1.000. Full cost and weight comparison to follow.

Some teaser pics.

Those frames are really, really underrated. I have a Cindercone (which I think is the same frame) and it's me favourite bike. With pretty ordinary bits it's 20.9lbs as a rigid singlespeed.

Now enjoy riding!
