any guess as to the actual model?
Despite the style of the ends of the stays, I think we can see that it isn't an Explosif or Kilauea. And I don't think it can be a 98 Cinder Cone/Lava Dome, as that didn't have those ends to the stays. But it could be a Caldera 98 or 99, or it could be a Lava Dome, 99 onwards.

Funnily enough, it's a good frame on either of those options, and I'm not sure it's necessarily worth more like this than it would have been had it been repainted in its original colour and given authentic decals.

Anyway, we'll soon see, as part of his strategy has been to put it on a 1-day auction. A man in a hurry, for some reason.

Kona?

Maybe should complain to ebay if its an issue and let them pull it in the last hours
I must admit I know bugger all about Konas as I have always had specialized, and if I had seen this I would have thought it was an explosive.
Suppose I would have checked it out, but a lot wouldnt. Its a deliberatly deceptive ad.
What goes around comes around.

Perhap he need to make up for the lost profit of previous Kona Hot he sold on ebay a few weeks back to 'mousemat'?

Well… he got near £70 for that frame, though I suspect it cost quite a bit to get it repainted and stickered – doubt he'll have made much on it.

I agree that the advert is a little misleading too. You can imagine the buyer going back to him when they find out it isn't an explosif and him saying, but I never said it was.

Ooooooooo...thats a bit naughty
I agree, but the buyer has got a freshly-painted double-butted frame for £68. Some people wear fake Rolex, fake designer sunglasses etc, so you could say a fake decal or two isn't the end of the world. But in my view, to describe the decals as 'authentic' was deception.

I still say if this was (e.g.) a 98 Caldera, he would have raised more than £68 for it if he had painted it in the original colours. £68 is more like the price for a fairly battered 98 Caldera frame, not a freshly painted one.

So I think the eBay community could smell that there was something wrong with this. That's quite impressive really - if the community had believed it was an Explosif, it would have raised c£150, but it didn't.
