Very very nice 19" 1996 Kona Explosif frame up for grabs.
It's in fantastic condition and certainly the best that I've come across.
No rust and all threads as they should be with minimal chips here and there.
The only part worth mentioning is the drive side where the previous user has fitted a BB too small and marked the frame, this is however covered by the crank/chainrings so would normally be hidden.
Check out the pic's

£250 posted to mainland UK, a little more for overseas....

I know!
But it's not the worst I've seen, I don't understand how people can think that 'modifying' the frame is better than just buying a wider bottom bracket.
Oh well, at least it's hidden by the crank set when mounted.

Normal chain suck? Really? Free bump. :)

Yes, the frames had plenty of riding and chainsuck will do that to a frame, it's harmless unless it's hacked through and made a hole.
You would include the damage in your own price valuation though.

it's not normal, all of my other '96 frame are flat there and do not have a indentation for additional chain ring clearance.

I sold another '96 2 weeks ago for £240 which wasn't as nice as this one so used that for the pricing. It's always difficult to set the 'right price' as it's worth a different amount to different people.

Mod's - hope this doesn't break the pricing discussion rule

:D

I said it was normal for chainsuck, that's what it does. The chain gets pulled up and somthing has to give, the frame or the chainring, the frame is the normal one.
I wasn't taking about normal for the frame.

If the bike is ridden a lot it and happens to happen a lot for whatever reason.
You could probably work out the chainring size from that, probably ATB as there tended to be a lot less clearance due to the larger rings.

People don't like the look of it though, so it affects peoples personal pricing (well it is damage)

There's chain suck sratches and small gouges, but that is more, it is dented heavily and there is a deep score line that is proberly very close to going though the tube in my opinion (ex bike trade) ...

as far as i know manufacturers did not put extra thick tubes in that area !

it's bad set up and maintenance.............clean and de-burr chain rings and it shouldn't happen, or change the rings....................but as stated by the seller some numty put a short BB on it. Prob a bent chainring too so as it went round it would touch now and then .....a bit like tire rub and the damage it can do on the inside of a chain stay.
