I don't know much about bikes and even less about MTBs but decided (re)building one would be fun.
I got an 1994 AA frame.
The aim is to make it functionally as new or nearly as new and if possible restore to original spec. or better. Functionality/quality/durabillity is very important to me, looks/branding are not. I try to avoid paying for the name rather than build quality.
It is at the LBS for them to find a new matching gear hanger (which they have already fitted) and I bought some Mazzochi XT51s off ebay which i'm still waiting to arrive.
As there is quite a bit of paint peeling off/bubbling I plan to have it Powder coated next or what ever is most durable.
Any advice things to watch out for on this issue?
I do have some seemingly vintage components (that came from another bike which was the original project that turned out FUBAR) but some seem to be originally of the Kona...
Stem (Kona velocity)
break levers (kona ? org. was Kona High command)
shifters (deore (DX?) top mount)
cranks (sugino 175 is all it says? org was Sugino Impel 500
I also bought some things of ebay after reading the spec. sheet in the Kona 1994 catalogue but now found that that this info might not be as specific as I thought it was so really need some advice on compatible components.

Deore DX FD-M650 front (not sure of clamp size)
STX RC Front M31.8 clamp Chainstay Angle 66-69degrees
Deore DX RD-M650 rear (looks like short cage)
Deore LX RD-M563 rear (long cage)
What do i need to look out for so i don't get compatibility problems?
Front Derailleur
Clamp size, (anyone know what I need as bike LBS at the moment)
Bottom/ top pull (anyone know what I need or can I use either?)
Anything else?
Rear Derailleur
Cage Length (I want to have triple chain rings in the front)
Anyting else?
What doe people use to clean up bike bits?
e.g grease + dirt clogged Derailleurs?
I planning to use, white spirit, cloth, and tooth brush.
Any hints welcome OK?
Breaks
I can't seem to find any info on the breaks.
(Bike pedia says they were Kona 879 AG brakes, levers, the katalogue says race lite)
Were they V breaks?
And would these be a Decent replacement for them
