Q: With all due respect, you are greatly overestimating the value of this bike second hand. If you would like to save the cost of re-listing I would be willing to make an offer in the region of £250 for it!!! Regards, James. 12-Oct-07
A: James, sorry not interested. Peter

4 hours to go and no bids.

:lol:

Just to add a contrarian perspective;

It's a minty example of a bike that cost about £3500 when new. 1/4 of that as a starting bid may be expensive, but it's not totally insane. Heck, I think it's more insulting offering £250 for it than asking £900.

What i never understood about these was Klein did such smart paint jobs on all there other bikes but made the Mantra so dull looking, especially when they had much more surface area to do something fancy.

Still i wouldnt say no to one 8)

As they say, it's worth what someone's willing to pay for it. Finding that someone is the difficult part. :wink:

Got to admit I was amused by the question because I've sometimes thought about giving people a reality check on various auctions. So far I've restrained myself, well nearly.

This is quite neat though:

many probably dont realise that this Mantra is very different to the usual Mantras. it has the Gradient tubes, Airhead set, MC2 etc. and was only made in 96 and 97 (this is a 97 model) in very limited numbers (rumoured around 250 per year?). they are much lighter than the normal Mantras and WAY cooler (if that's a word). while they probably dont ride much different than the other Mantras they have a certain cult following and now are more collector items than riders (imho, i know others think different).

it's a bit like a true MC2 Adroit compared to the later Trek Pulse models if you want so.

very unlikely that it will sell but the seller would be very right in just keeping it instead of lowering the price.

and the color is nice too, very bright and deep. the main boom is almost round and really fat, not as flat as on the normal Mantras.

depends - it looks virtually new - if you stuck in a bid for 900 what better bike could you buy new for that money? you would get a heavy full suspension bike and certainly no where near the component spec thats on that bike... imo of course.
