Kiss good bye to the pint

That's a good idea, actually.
My wife is not a big drinker and the size of a glass of wine in a pub is quite large, being able to get a smaller glass would save me money and leave her sober enough to drive me home!

Another thing... even if we did loose the impeial measurments I belive we would still call it a pint or a half even if it was 330ml or 660ml or whatever they will be.

This raises two points ...

1) a schooner is already a british measurment... for sherry

2) we have already said goodbye to the "Nip"..... 1/3 of a pint, now only used for bottled Barley Wine. :?

Doesn't really matter what measurement it comes in, as long as we can still afford it!

This isn't a replacement for the pint glass. It's simply a relaxation of the rules which dictate the volumes in which alcohol is served. Don't worry, you'll still be able to order a pint. It doesn't even state that it will be mandatory to offer the new measures, if that's the case I can't see many traditional pubs rushing to offer schooners.

MM, it's just after 11 in the morning!

*remembers student days*

Ah, maybe I shouldn't be so quick to comment... ;)
