Kirk revolution help needed

Tinotrials

Does anyone know much about this brand, we have one in at work and it needs a lot of work doing to it. I'm going to give the customer the option to repair or trade in but I'm unsure of the price tag it carries.

as I understand it, they are pretty worthless, as they are not really rideable, due to the fact they crack so easily. They look great, but they weren't high spec, and they brake, so not many people want them.

Cast magnesium frames. Famous for having air bubbles in the casting, which means some of them have serious weak spots and are prone to cracking..

Also, magnesium has some unusual characteristics when it comes to corrosion etc.

Generally speaking, they are worth next to nothing. Unless your customer rides very carefully all the time and has a strong emotional attachment to the bike, I'd advise him to to stay clear of it.

I would disagree with you for the most part, they are worth not a great deal, as they were mid-range bikes at best when they came out in the early 90's.

They are as rideable as any other retro-bike (how many times do we see Al-Megas or Manitou frames cracking?) , if they were going to crack then they would most likely have done so by now, it's over 20 years since they were made, that being said, make sure you check the frame well for any cracks (don't worry about any "worm" pattern under the paint, that's harmless).

Near the end of the production of the Kirk Revolution frames they had ironed out the quality control issues and the later frames were far more reliable, unfortunately the damage had been done to the brand and production ceased.
