KHS Montana Comp True Temper

Dirt Disciple
Hi there folks, this is my first post (Apart from my hello one!) and I'm looking for some info.

I bought the above from Ebay the other day (sorry no pics yet) and was looking for some info about age etc.

Basically the guy said he bought it over 10yrs ago, its a blue colour at the back of the frame merging to a light green colour at the headset and forks. Kit wise it's got an xt rear mech, lx front and gripshifters.... I've yet to work out what the crankset is or the headset, but given it has zoom bars and a quill headset I'm assuming everything is original.

What I was wondering is if anyone can give me some info about age, original spec etc, basically a bit of history around the specific model.

Appreciate the help and look forward to many posts to come!

Cheers

Can you post a link to the ebay page? You could also have a look round a site called bikepedia.

I'd guess at about 95. Just a feeling though. Oh and top score I was watching this one to see what would happen, should be a nice bike. Theres a few on here and we all like them :D I think theres a KHS thread too.

i was also keeping my eye on that and really should have had a punt but perhaps it would have just made it more expensive for you!

that is a really good price for that bike.

i would agree that it dates to around 1995. definately later than 1993.

the khs thread is HERE

you might be able to date it from the frame number from THIS PAGE

if it is a 95 then here's the BIKEPEDIA ENTRY
lets see some decent pics when you get it

Cheers Guys, an excellent help with the pointers. By the sounds of things it's most definately a '95. The frame description and components sound identical, apart from the seat. when the guy said on ebay it was some sofa thing he wasn't lying.... It has springs and rubber bushes as well as being padded... I would compare it to putting an E class merc seat in a track day car!!

I'm glad you guys didn't bid (from a purely selfish point of view of course) the wife was bad enough when I told her i had bought another bike never mind if I had spent a pretty penny on it. I really feel as if I've got a steal.

Next step once I've taken some before pics will be to start pestering for advice on making it all shiney. Hopefully I should have them posted up this weekend! I'm hoping to get it out for a retro run with my mate soon so will give a test report soon. Just need to remember that it's rim brakes and it's gonna take a little while to stop

Cheers again fellas!

Appreciated!
