Karakoram S/S

I have always fancied a go at building and riding a single speed bike so when I saw this frame come up on ebay I decided to give it a go! (Also I have a soft spot for old GTs!).

I could do with some advice on getting the S/S stuff - I am thinking of buying On-One bits (relatively cheap and its usually good stuff) and a 32/16 chain/sprocket ratio. But any other suggestions would be gratefully recieved!

Frame: 1991 GT Karakoram True Temper. It has had all gear cable guides removed for a more 'Streamlined'look and has been modified to take canti's.

thats going to look nice in black m8 especially with your chrome rc30's
the advice i'd give is to fit o/s bars/stem ,you spend a lot of time hoiking
on the bars when climbing ,ane fit a half link chain

Thanks - that all seems sounds advice - what is a half link chain? How do they enable you to not have a tensioner?

Here are a few pics of the almost finished beast, unfortunately this has to go asap to fund (and make room for) my other GTs but I thought I'd post pics of as far as I got with the build for anyone interested.

I still had to get a tensioner and a hanger for the rear canti's, (Kona do/did one that would do the job).

I think it looks pretty smart



The frame/tyres/forks will all be on my for sale thread soon if anyone wants to have a play with it.
