Judy butter

Omg why so many different things.. Cool [email protected]

Fluffy, are they one and the same thing?.

Youv'e confused me now..why so many different brands?. Is it like baked beans they are not all the same

Is that slick grease any good does it do the same job.

After all as long as its cheap lasts and works :? Thats all I care about.

Im hardly going to be looking at it on a daily basis.

HELP

SRAM bought RockShox many moons ago after the release of the original JUDY forks

JUDY Butter is RockShox JUDY Butter (for the JUDY forks)

so stick a SRAM in front of it and that what you get

The other stuff is just an alternative, thin and very dark grey black colour and easy to work with. Plus does what it says on the tin err tub.
There are plenty of other alternatives but these two I know of.

There is nothing special about JUDY Butter as far as I know compared to any other greases aimed at suspension forks lubing whatsits.

Maybe best if someone else chimes in that doesn't just witter on :)

good links, Fluffy, and good explanation of the "Sram" butter, but I've never used regular lube on my rock shox rubbery/plastic internal bits, aka elastomers. But perhaps I'm just a lemming for the old Rock Shox marketing...any pro mechanics out there?

GoldenEra, the super slipper is aimed at suspension forks, with marketing to use it for anything else you wish to find uses for it...
I got the name of it and way to use it from Enduro Fork Seals
and if they use it as they do in their pictorial thing, it's good enough for me
http://www.enduroforkseals.com/id80.html
They pit it everywhere, seals, bolt, stanchions the lot

I believe general 'grease/lube/oil' may damage the seals/elastomer etc if they contain lithium. Other than that for elastomer covering it's just to keep them moist, for the slidy bit I think it's the shear viscosity (oh er technical term) that's important ..
Course I ignore than, buy what other use and what's cheap enough for me.

You are right on target. I remember reading that there was a component of the general use lube that wasn't good for the fork innards; I believe it's as you state.

I've got half a tube of Manitou branded fork grease / lube in the garage - wil try to remember to check the "ingredients" re lithium.

Might be an alternativer to "butter"...
