Retro Guru
Hi folks. Recently acquired this, through the magic of eBay. I'd been on the lookout for a retro road frame for a while and always thought it'd be made of steel, but this came up and I couldn't resist it. I'm a bit of a Trek fan anyway, and have owned quite a few in the past. It seems to be in fairly good condition, a few paint chips here and there, one tiny dent in the top tube and the extremely dayglo paint is a bit faded on one side of the top tube. I seem to have accumulated almost an entire road bikes worth of parts too, so it'll be a bit of a parts bin special.

Regards

Marge

Nice! The colour is borderline, but on the right side of offensive!

Oh and I'm not part of a "movement", dude. I just like riding old steel roadies. 8)

Re:

Been cracking on with it, so here's a quick update: bars and stem, brakes and cables , octalink bb and seatpost. Gave it a proper wash and polish, and it came up really well.

Apple Tree, it's a 1991 model, that originally came with RX100 and downtube shifters. It has the original chainset in the pic above, but I have a nice 5500 105 chainset and rear mech for it. The cat was indeed resting, as cats normally do.

Don, perhaps movement wasn't quite the right word, but it was more in reference to me previously only building and riding retro MTBs. However, since I own three road bikes and only one MTB, you can probably see why I wanted a retro road project.

Thanks for the comments anyway, glad you like it

Regards

Marge

Reminds me of some of the off-the-wall paint jobs that Orbit used to turn out at Brierley Hill!
