Devout Dirtbag
Can't find anyone selling jockey wheels for 5 speed older campag in the UK. I can find a USA manufacturer, SOMA, but they are out of stock. Any suggestions in the UK?

I was tidying up my box of mechs this week when I noticed that both my Nouvo and my super Record had Shimano jockeys
As I have never owned a top quality one I bet it was from some thing cheap and nasty like Altus.
Of course you may have more self respect thatn me.

I've never been too big on self respect......just trying to find something that will work. Found a post by an Evans techy suggesting that width of jockey wheels wasn't very crucial, and that the newer narrower ones should work on old 5 speed.

Does anybody have any opinions?

Hello,

Pictured you see a Nuovo Gran Sport mech with older Tacx wheels fitted. I think they have a larger diameter than the originals, but apparantly it works fine. Tacx wheels come with spacers for the width. Most replacement pulleys I bought came with spacers.

The original bolts are replaced by allen bolts, possibly a pragmatic choice because the derailleur is fitted on a bike for making journeys with. A to me unique feature is the adjuster barrel on the back: 1st time I see such on a N-GS mech. Finally distinctive is the Portacatena mechanism for holding your chain tensioned with wheel removed.

Back to topic: Bottom line is I think you can't go wrong easily. What matters is how accurate/original you want to keep your bike.

Just for info, soma mailed me to say they expect to have jockey wheels available in a month or so, so I'll wait til then I think

I think (have to make a search) I do have a set new or nearly new. I replaced them at the time for a Tacx set.
But then, I do not know how to ship to the UK with finance dealing etc.
