Job Lot

Is there anyone on here or that you know of, that buys job lots of bikes and bits?
I am getting to that age where I have to start thinking what a mess I will be leaving my children to sort out when I cycle off this earth.

I know I could strip the bikes down and sell on ebay for parts but I would rather not.

The obvious suggestion is to list them on here. If you just want to clear things out rather than make money then state a token amount with 'open to offers'. If, as per your profile, you are still in Hertfordshire then you have more potential of someone being able to collect or meet easily than if you lived in, say, Wick (top end of mainland Scotland to save everyone Googling).

You've been on Rb about as long as I have so are probably aware that the second-hand market is very quiet, complete bikes especially can be very hard to move and individual parts aren't making much, generally speaking.

Another option is a bike charity or community-cycling place or similar. They might be selective about what they take, though, so you may not be able to give them some obscure items.

Good luck.

I know Wick as was there only a few weeks ago, visiting my wifes horse that she had to sell for pretty much the same reason as me selling my bikes and bits.

I dont want to be making money but also not to make a massive loss either.
Perhaps I will try a couple of bikes on here and a few choice parts NOS Dura Ace from 70's and 80's

@stevevw Small world that you were recently in Wick, eh? I was obviously just using it as an example of a remote place where you probably won't have loads of buyers able to come and view or collect.

It, fortunately, doesn't cost anything to advertise on here and you aren't obliged to sell if you aren't happy with any offers. It seems that you are aware that some of your items may be sought after so get them advertised.

Here in the USA, unless it is a 'special' bike, it is hard to even give them away. Seems every recreational rider who considers a road bike requires integrated levers, disc brakes, 'lightweight frame', and tires 30+mm. More experienced enthusiasts often have too many bikes already, even fewer want to be limited by 25 or 27mm tires. Collectors remain - but have become fewer.

I have boxes of our children's toys -
My wife cannot believe the low/no value on dolls like the one's in her 'collection'.
Used HO train sets, film cameras not totally top of th line, nice (large) vintage furniture, etc.
Video games and consoles are sometimes a unique case. But like BMX bikes, not often.

For all the above = there are always exceptions, but hard to find new users. Just dated stuff. Work beyond value to sell, most every time. Or should I say - attempt. ☹️

Back to bikes =
Much easier to strip and sell things separately. With few exceptions, the most profitable, but more time intensive - balanced against -"at least something left the shed last month"

I swear, ..... maybe.... at least half are gone over 2 years. .... Only a couple added. ;)
