Thought I better get one of these Zaskar's in now or they might become redundant if that's possible. I have to admit this one is odd and can even be called rare. I've heard that another like it exists somewhere in Germany but I've never seen pictures of it. Two things about this frame, 1) GT didn't start pumping anodized frames into the market place until late in 1992 and they were first pictured as 1993 models (Aqua, Purple and Black were the first ano offerings) . This frame actually has a serial number that starts 0691 and the frame is also clearly marked "Blem" likely because the ano didn't take well at the weld on the non drive side near the bottom bracket.
2)Turns out this frame was one that was originally done as a sample when GT was trying to consider which colors to offer to the public. This color was never offered in a catalog or on a price sheet.

I got this frame off craigslist in So Cal and when I first saw it on a camera phone pic I thought U-G-L-Y.... it was like avocado or deep olive in color. It wasn't until seeing it for the second time a few days later that I asked about it and for a hundred bucks I though why not? Seller had it stored in a dark corner of a garage and I swear I've never seen or want to see a frame this dirty the rest of my life. It had some greasy base film hardened to it with 10+ years of dust stuck to it and I mean stuck. In the stand for two days tooth brushed with a green cleaner then taken to the basement stainless steel sink for a hot spray rinse at least 20 times. All of a sudden the ball burnished sheen under the ano began to pop and with each successive layer of cleaner it got better and better. The frames obviously been ridden and has some scars but hey I like it now and many have said they'd love it when I die. I just threw parts on it when I got it. Nothing fancy. Not all are period correct but I will likely do some updating on it at some point. It looks great with the silver bits. I spent a lot of time emailing, picturing and measuring decals in back and forth emails with Gil over a period of weeks and when we got the 91 decals dialed I asked him for the white Zaskar down tube decals because they just look better on the Green, Purple and Aqua frames. (see pic included of the original 93 ano offerings with white decals and you'll see what I mean).

3D threaded fork with Tioga Headset and GT double lock nut, Syncro stem, GT alloy bar. Now it has GT/A'me Grips. Mavic 231 wheels with 730/735 XT hubs, XT crank, shifters and derailleurs, Flite copy saddle, Taiwan XTR type post, well aged MegaBytes. Like I said a few changes to update and make it more GT/period correct so a work in progress for a rainy day or winter cold snap.
