Not a lot to go on, decals should be on top tube surely, and if it's threaded headset shouldn't there be a canti hanger on the back, as it must be pre- V brakes....?

The top tube cable guides look quite Trek like to me! :?

Re:

Cheers Paul, don't know much about Specialized but fancied one, looking through old catalogues the Specialized decal should have at least been on top tube not down tube....

Could still be a nice frame but I suppose this is the problem with there being so many graphics available cheaply on ebay

Re:

Its a bit of an Odd ball but im sure someone will know what it is , STX bits on it and im sure that rear mech hanger would help tie it down ,Not a spesh though :D

yes, old rockhopper, 98ish. Shimano never offered anything but threaded headsets and we were still seeing quill stems/threaded forks into the late 90s.

Cable routing is wrong for those :)

Re:

Specialized or not, definately not original decals, The 'S' logo's on the head tube and seat tube are incorrectly applied and look more like Z's. As far as I'm aware Specialized never put a 'S' logo at the base of the seat tube anyhow.

As for the riveted guides and no provision for a 2nd bottle cage on the seat tube suggest a cheap, basic alu frame and not a specialized of any sorts.
