Is this false economy?

After aquiring 7 speed bar end shifters, I'm thinking of converting the work bike/tourer back to 7 speed after seeing this and this. What do you think?

8 spd chains are the same width as most 7spd, narrower 9spd works even better with 7 if you already have these lying around.

cassettes - good price but dont forget ebay too

on the cheap for less than £20!

nice looking bike - bit of fork judder with the V's ?

None, George ( rest in peace ) knew how to build them, especially for size 12 feet ( hence the leaning rack at the back ) so he built super strong forks with a moo-hassive 3 inch rake and there's never any judder.

cool - I'm a 'stomp on the pedals in the big ring' chap and always twisted big frames ( I had a Gazzelle that used to change gear on its own), took me ages to find something that didnt.

paid £3 for a new 7spd cassette at a car boot - loads of cheapies on ebay
