Is this a REAL Colnago???

Thank y’all!

Lots of useful info - I really appreciate the help, as I’m primarily a mountain biker! The bottom bracket looked a bit Colnago-esque, but I don’t think any had the rear brake cable routed over the top.

I think a re-paint might be better, as the decals will no doubt leave their mark after removal (which I WILL be doing!)

Re:

Routing over the top of the BB shell was universal before the '80s. (That includes Colnago  )

All things considered that machine is likely to be not later than about 1975. What it is likely to be depends on where in the world you found it.
If it's not a Colnago, it might not be Columbus either? The Columbus fork blade oval cross-section is subtly different from Reynolds. I can't remember the dimensions off the top of my head but you'll find them somewhere on the web.

Well, I’m in Brisbane, Australia, and that’s where I picked it up. Sorry I wasn’t specific re “over the top”. I meant over the top of the top tube itself...

Jeez, no later than ‘75 you say?!

By the way, I fitted the new DiaCompe bar end shifters, as the Shimano ones that came with it didn’t have enough friction to cope with the Campy mech.
