Is there such a thing as 7 speed STI's?

Just wondering if there is such a thing as 7 speed STI combined gear and brake levers???

There was 7 and 8 speed in RSX, but any 8 speed would work fine in 7 speed freewheel.

Ahhh ok thanks for that...so I guess in 8 speed there would just be one click that did nothing at the end?

NO!
Seven speed is 5mm nominal pitch between sprockets. 8 speed is 4.8mm pitch. So an 8 spd lever wont pull enough cable to change the wider gaps of 7 speed.
(there will be stories of how people have got it to work, but it depends on how fussy you are on it working 100% and when it gets older, it might not be so good)

and a personal opinion, but RSX was far better made than sora.

Riiiight and I'm guessing that a 7 speed freehub would not take an 8 speed cassette? Now another thing I have heard is that 8 speed Campy Ergo shifters would work with 7 speed...

...Are RSX the only 7 speed sti option then (without going new/modern)

I've tried the Campag-Shimano option and it does work pretty well, at least when everything is nice and new and clean and not worn out.

Apart from that, afaik the RSX are the only 7 speed STI shifters.

i think 1st gen sora might have been 7, but happily corrected

Nice and new might not be 2 words that apply to 2nd hand units I was looking at though!...Thanks for the info.
