Is American shipping that expensive?

The much-maligned '12-28' has an A-Tac stem on eBay that I would love but he's charging $45 for shipping, he's having a laugh, right?

It's a 300gm stem, 135mm long, it's not a pair of forks.

Can an American member set me straight please? I'm in shock.

Edit: it's not '12-28' ( I apologise to you if you read this!) it's 'Bad-CNC-Habit'. Stretching his luck once again.

i think that is well over priced, i had a pair of Z2 bombers sent to england for less than that. many americans do seem to find posting abroad a problem. which personally find a real pain :(

You're right! My mistake. It's the other bike trader/profiteer 'Bad-CNC-Habit'.

Man's a lunatic. Blatant profiteering. Gives retro a bad name.

At a guess he is doing post office Priority mail medium box flat rate international, you can see for yourself on USPS.com This has a benefit of printing the postage online, free box, free tape and they even collect from your address. Though he could send it Priority mail international in his own box for about $30. Plus he can insure it.

You have to consider his risks - multiple risks if he ships a lot. With first class international there is no insurance, so if the item gets lost, the buyer wins 99% of the time and he gets nowt. Plus he has to wait in line at the post office and fill in a customs form by hand versus printing online postage and customs form as mentioned above (priority).

P.S. I'm no BAD CNC HABIT!!

That is all well and good Uno, but when the postage of the item outstrips the value of the item you have to think to yourself somethings wrong.

Well in all honesty it sounds like he doesn't want to sell it abroad and assume the risks.
