Iron on retro patches

Over the years I've collected a few retro related bike material patches, I presume they are all iron on (appear to be plastic backed), but I've never done anything with them. Has anyone put them on clothing etc? Looking for a bit of inspiration as it seems like a one time attempt to get it right rather than ruin them.
