Interesting item at a fair price

If I hadn't already got one, I'd be interested in this Ebay item :

I wonder who made it and what kind of age it is.

Looks a well-made bike - look at those lugs.

A fair price, in my opinion.

They're Carlton Capella lugs so likely a Carlton (though they turn up on Claud Butlers from time to time)

For 200 quid I'd buy it just for the fun of it! Used to do tasndem work with the RNIB bitd

Carlton flogged off their kit to jobbing frame builders when they closed, presumably to pee off their Raleigh bean counters so the capella lugs could be anybodies.

Go buy it. You know you want to. Already got two so a third not required. However you wont find many as cheap as that . A quality re spray with decent lug lining and it would look fantastic and still have cost less than most used tandems

Isn't that two road frames brazed together??? The top tubes don't run parallel - looks a bit of a bodge to me - but it's about 10 mins from home so I'm sorely tempted!!!!

I believe it is two frames welded together. If that is the case the stoker will be a little cramped. The top tube on the back bike will not be long enough.

Yup, that's a cut-and-shut alright. Top tube not horizontal, and neither are the lower tubes which are also twin tubes as opposed to a single one It might be alright for messing about but nothing more than that.
