The suntour wishbones are great, likewise the Mavic or Simplex wishbones (same thing, different branding). Proshift are OK, but not amazing, I was just servicing my bike with them last night and realised how clunky they are compared to the big brands. If you want one that work then find some wishbone shifters.

SRAM CX-DT or the better SRTs if going later, the SRT600R or a bit earlier the 500R with metal spring upgrade.

Suntour were shite, as were campag.
Unless you want thumbies.

Rf not too good either, even when RF+ came on, the RF+ only got better with STX or the 737/738 era.
But hands down better than Suntour.
