Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against ti. I've got a ti bar on the Kilauea, but with a bar, I can see that the flexing of ti perpendicular to its length is going to be softer than with aluminium. Whereas with a seatpost, the shocks are transmitted along the length of the ti tube. Do I really believe that the ti tube compresses along its length so as to absorb shocks? No. Sufficient to add noticeably to the shock absorbing capacities of the ti rails and the saddle? No way. It's all in the mind, I'd say.
