This happened to mine initially.

I attributed it to over watering and position.

I toned down the watering - made sure there was no standing water, repositioned the plant and it did make a comeback.

Have you tried adding a nutrient?

I bought mine from Ikea and TBH it didn't last all that long despite my best intentions - book reading etc. :(

i havent bought any nutrients
are there any household ones?

i have moved it to the sun - southfacing window
and have drained the water from the tray

roots did look very moist

Keep them outside, out of direct sun. I keep mine in an unheated greenhouse in the winter.

Water them well. It's a bit late to be re-potting them now. If you do then a mixture of 50% sharp sand 50% compost will do or you can spend a fortune on Bonsai Potting compost. You'll need to prune the roots back a bit if you do. These tend to come potted in a real clayey soil so if you're not re-potting then keep them well watered. It'll appreciate a regular spray with a water mister. It'll need fertiliser too, loads of stuff out there. I don't bother with fancy bonsai ones, they're just overpriced, I use maxicrop, just dilute it and water it on once a week, just water in mid summer though

Heed the advice above ^^^

thanks
but so much conflicting info :? :(

so its not indoor plant then?
:(
want it indoors

can put it outside i guess

Sound like over watering, its the most common way people kill there plants, on the food side of things maxicrop is good, stay away from mircle gro and the like. The products from www.ecocharlie.co.uk are some of the best if not the best IMHO

well its started looking a bit drab, and was very dry so have watered it a fair bit to keep it moist
so may have over watered it, but due to it looking like it dying :?

will see how it goes
as i dont want to buy fertisliser for it to die

or is that the key thing here?
