The benefit is it keeps the luddites in the retro bit and the opinionated in the general If you want to amalgamate everything use the posts since last visit option.

Thought it was working quite well as it goes. As a final question would ask if you'd rather have a dedicated forum for newer stuff? Or would you rather the newer stuff get moved to off topic along with threads like "Look What My dogs Eating For Tea" and "Ohhh Missus, my trousers". Because that is what happened before.
