So I took my pride and joy, a 1993 DB Apex with full 737 XT out for a ride this morning with 2 mates and my partner. There's a 12 hour teams race coming up in a couple months as we decided to head out for a 30km ride. About 7 K's into the ride I came flying round a nice banked corner, powered out of it and felt a clonk. I stopped straight away as I thought I had broken a spoke, I checked the rear wheel, seemed fine so I jumped back on my bike, something didn't feel right.... then I looked down.... I had snapped the frame....
I couldn't believe it, my trusty bike, broken. Well I managed to limp it back to the car park and then drowned my sorrows with an ice cream from the shop there. On further inspection it doesn't look salvagable, it's broken in a bad spot and the insides of the tube are fairly corroded.
I almost shed a tear... pretty emotional moment.
RIP
