How to date a Gary Fisher frame?

Is it possible to date a Gary Fisher frame frome the serial number?

The bike is an old Wahoo Serial Number: WTU2168151P.
The letter M is stamped underneath this which presumably doesn't mean medium as the frame measures 19.5"!?

For future reference, that's a Trek built Gary Fisher.
The final letter is the Year indicator - see https://www.vintage-trek.com/SerialNumbers_draft.htm
The date of this frame should be 1998.
