How much is my totally original 1993 Kona Explosif worth?

Retro Newbie
I was part of the team selected for the 1993 World Championships at Metabief, France on this bike but changed sponsors just afterwards. Since then it's been stored in a bike bag in my loft. I'm loath to sell it but we really need the space/cash now as moving house. It's 18" i think with full original XT and I think it's still got the original Mavic SUP on XT wheels. I can't get to it to take photos at the mo, but any idea what it might be worth? Cheers guys!

If it's totally original and in box fresh condition (did you use it at all before the sponsor change?) anywhere north of £275 would be my estimate. What would be really interesting is if it's got the ribbed or non-ribbed down-tube as there are variances in the 93 Explosif range. There are even some, the North America range if I recall that are single colour rather than dual. Both elements could impact the price.

As always, even if they are tricky to get, photo's tell a 1000 words.

Thanks al-onestare. It's got the ribbed downtube and is dark blue to silver fade. It was raced in the national chamionships in July and trained on between then and the Worlds that September, but I also trained on a road bike so I would guess maybe ridden 10-20 times max in total. I would guess so not 'box fresh' but 'lightly used'. Does the providence make any difference though? It might end up just being worth more to me given that I've got the framed GB team jersey I wore with the kona logos printed on it and local press articles about it with me and the bike in etc.

Here's a photo of it (and me!) back in the day. Doesn't help much though, I know!

Re:

The photo hasn't appeared. I think you might need a minimum number of posts... Very interesting history to the bike!

With that history and personal connection, my advice would be to keep it. There are too many cases of folks regretting that moment of madness when they let them go to a new home...

In terms of condition, the way you've described it, there would be a difference but not much. The pic hasn't come through so you might want to try again or host it online and share the link / embed the link.

This all day long. It won't be worth a fortune (Maybe £275 as suggested) so I'm sure it's worth more to you.
