how hard is it to get old stuff clean , currently stripping the dyna-tec down and having cleaned it as i go each bit that looked clean on the bike seems oily mucky and greased up when its taken off,

the frame is going to be a challenge as i cant see a respray working and the white looks pretty bad, may have to live with that

anyone got any parts cleaning secrets to share

get a polishing kit for a bench grinder - cleans like nothing else

dishwashers are good too.
thought about the dish washer but she,s cookin my tea and just gave me a beer so i wont push it too far,

A large tub of elbow grease and a good helping of patience works well

Been doing a few bits today but can't post pics until Monday :-(

WD :-)

Clean the worst of the grime off the bike first, Fenwicks FS-1 is brilliant, spray it on, make a cup of tea, rub it a bit with a brush, drink tea, hose it off. Young Harry Burgundy put me on to this, it's brilliant stuff!

Then strip your bike down.

T-cut and lots of elbow grease on the frame.

GT-85 on greasy, grimy bits with elbow grease.

Solvolautosol to polish alloy and chrome bits (once cleaned of grease using above method) with yet another tub of elbow grease.

some degreaser for the oily bits. let it soak and wash off.

autosol for polishing bits

and elbow grease but i'm running low on that at the moment. need some stock.

been sat here for an hour or so with the frame and a pack of baby wipes, getting the stuck on grease off prettye well.

seat post , mechs ,chain rings and a few bolts are going in the sink once the misses has got the wine on the go,

Thinners for general degreasing but a solvent parts washer is invaluable,if you gave a car mechanics close to you ,you could ask in there
