For the life of me I do not know why this works this way

If I put in say orange it shows me a certian amount of orange items

if i select sports..then cycling and then type in retro then half a tonne of stuff appears that was not there before

then i go to recently listed and select buy now on the off chance something poorly listed and for peanuts has just happened.

I seem to get more results this way

How do you search for the golden nuggetts?

good question! i seem to find things more by luck than planning. sometimes i just follow links to other items that a seller has. some of the things i am looking for not many others seem interested in which helps.
the other thing you will find is some things everybody will want and a bidding war will start.
always set yourself a limit NEVER go over it,another item the same or similar will come up on eBay.

Sometimes items are spelled uncorrectly ;-).

Eg Dia Compe/ Dia Comp/ Dia-compe

or cantilever/ canti/ canti's / Etc

worth trying an incorrect spelling to see what comes up.

i usually search "bikes" set distance to nearest first then condition to used and not specified

Here's a little trick I use: When I want to find more than one thing in a single search, I use commas within round brackets. Like this...
Code:
Orange (p7, r8)
...which would be equivalent to saying "Find all 'Orange p7 and 'Orange r8' auctions".

You can do more complicated combinations. Suppose I wanted to find all "bikes", "bicycles" and "MTBs" that were described as "retro", "classic" or "vintage"; I would type...
Code:
(retro, classic, vintage) (bike, bicycle, MTB)
....which would trawl up every auction description with any combination of a term in the first set of brackets and a term in the second set of brackets.
