How do I fix this chain?

Chain has a broken link as pictured. Is it fixable?

Cheap fix - take the link out..
Proper fix - buy a new chain..

None.. if you go for the proper route.. The chain will just seperate as theres nothing holding it together. Then get a sram or kmc chain with a power link.. job done! The power link is reusable and requires no tools!

Cool, thanks. I take it an 8 speed one would fit? (cassette is 7)

Yes chain width should be the same. I use 7/8spd one on my 7spd chain. 9 spd chains are thinner.

Agreed. Power links rock. I have them on all my bikes except the SS. If you have a multi tool, you may even have the chain splitter.

Does it matter how many links the chain has? I noticed the SRAM have 114 and the KMC 116

hmmm good point, you will still need a chain splitter as you will need to shorten the new chain to be the same length (have the same number of links) as you existing chain.

So in conclusion, no it doesn't matter how many links you start with. New chains are always a good few links too long to allow for fitting to any bike/gear combination!
