Hope Pro II and Pro III ?

doogie

Retro Guru
Anyone been using Hope Pro II or Pro III hubs ?

What are your thoughts on em ? :?

Thanks in advance doogie.

Pro 2 here, been useing for a year now and no problems at all :D
In fact never had a problem with any of there hubs, Ive xc's on 1 bike
pro 2 on another and now i have bulbs on my DH bike.

They are quite noisy though [ pro 2's] but i like that  Helps to make other trail users aware of you

Good hubs, but use an alloy carrier cassette as the splines of the freehub body are known to become gouged with a steel cassette carrier.

I've been using my XC hubs for 4 years, luckily they don't suffer with the same issue.

hubs are nice, but I had a problem with my std XC rear, and after every wet ride the pawls/freehub went to shit. Easy to clean, but got fed up after every ride :?

Guess the Pro2/3 are better. Good weight too for the cash

I've got a Pro 3 rear on my SS - looks lovely, no problems (but not that many miles to be honest), but boy oh boy does it make a racket!

Got pro 3's on all my bikes. Bloody excellent hubs 8) :D (but only rear) have Hope ti 90's ultra lights on the fronts :D :D

True with the 3's. But cycling in London the noise helps. As pedestians look to see the noise before they cross the road :D

Watch out for cracked flanges.
That's the only problem I've ever had with Hope hubs. The early Ti front hubs, (pressed on alloy flanges with Ti body) have a bad habit of cracking the flange where it's pressed on. The Ultra Light is probably the least likely to go though 'cos the skinny body means there's more meat on the flange.

Ive noticed a propogating crack on my ti-glide rear.....

the odd thing is its on the large drive side flange as apposed to the more slender non driveside.

I was thinking about sending it off to hope in the "hope" (hehe see what I did there) they can fix/replace it from long lost old stock.
