So here it is. My first (proper) foray into the road bike world..
After years of riding more road biased bikes, and spending more and more time on the roads and paths I realised it was time to take the plunge and don the lycra.
I had an alfine equipped On-One commuter in mind and have nearly finished building it (see my gay on-one in the other readers bike section) and although its come together beautifully I couldnt help looking at other roadies and came across this Kona. So a good pal has bought the On-One and funded the Kona
A hopefull bid later, and im the proud owner of this 'shop display', essentially new, 2010 Kona for almost exactly half its retail price, bargain!!
First impressions are great, I was worried about going for a 56cm as due to my lanky torso id convinced myslef only a 58cm would do...but due to very stumpy legs ive measured up at somewhere near 56cm.
So far so good though, seemed to fit really well on its first outing tonight. Ive flipped the stem and raised the bars slightly whilst I get to grips with the new riding position..but ill be making a few tweaks and no doubt an upgrade or two before long. Before you ask the pedals were just for convenience! I have some EggBeaters to fit..
Im loving the multiple hand positions and ergo fit hoods. Seemed nice and springy over rough ground too. Gotta love the steel for feel.
Well chuffed
